Flourish into a Healthy Mind

Updated: Dec 25, 2021

Introduction

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Healthy Minds has created a mobile application to help individuals achieve greater well-being with the aid of Healthy Minds.

Healthy Minds incorporates scientific research led by Dr. Richard Davidson, founder of the Center for Healthy Minds, via podcasts and meditations. The Center for Healthy Minds has guided countless breakthroughs in the neuroscience of well-being and mind-training that promotes focus, serenity, and resilience through meditation training.

About

Using neuroscience, contemplative traditions, and skill-based learning methods, the Healthy Minds Program offers a unique framework to guide users through four pillars of the science of training the mind.

The Healthy Minds Program's four pillars

The app has three main features that guide users towards developing skills for a healthy mind and increased well-being.

Active and seated practices that can be done anywhere and anytime. Users have ability to choose a meditation practice style (active or seated) that suits their needs and helps them reach their goals. The app also offers meditations 5-30 minutes in length—a variety of time lengths to choose from!

Podcast-style lessons which are taught by some of the world’s leading scientists and meditation teachers who provide insight on the science behind training the mind.

Healthy Minds reports that measure your current level of well-being to helpage which pillar (awareness, connection, insight, and purpose) you should work on. Users are also able to watch their personal growth by seeing their reports change over time as they train their mind.

The Science Behind Flourishing

Healthy Minds uses methods supported by decades of scientific research which promote an increase in focus, lead to less stress, boost resilience, develop compassion, and foster better physical health.

The application is free, easy-to-use and can be downloaded onto your device via the App Store as well as Google Play.
