Unifying The World Through Kindness

Kindness has the power to overcome differences and bridge divides. It provides a common language and is universally valued. Everyone has the capacity to choose kindness, but it’s not always easy, and sometimes you don’t know where to start.

Building a kinder world takes all of us, everything we do is ultimately to empower anyone, anywhere in the world to choose kindness often and effectively. Every act makes a difference ... make being kind an easy choice! Kindness spreads faster when we work together. Think of yourself as a connective thread, educating and equipping individuals and organizations with solutions that can lead to an activation of kindness.

Just imagine what it would look like if choosing kindness was the norm! That's possible. The first step starts with you! When you are kind to others ... others will be kind to others ... the ripple effect goes on and on!

The problems of racism, sexism, homophobia, intolerance, inequality, and poverty still persist and continue to negatively impact us all.

Kindness is a language spoken around the world. It crosses borders, religions, creeds, and cultures. By being kind, we're encouraged to:

  • TREAT ONE ANOTHER AS EQUALS

  • CELEBRATE WHAT WE HAVE IN COMMON

  • DELIGHT IN OUR DIFFERENCES

  • BREAK DOWN OUR BARRIERS

  • BUILD BRIDGES BETWEEN COMMUNITIES

Kindness also catalyzes understanding by motivating us to investigate the complex causes and consequences of hatred, discrimination, and injustice in our society.

Only by seeking the truth about these pervasive problems will we be able to design the solutions that will dismantle them.

While kindness starts from within, it is only fully realized through action. It requires us to take effective action for change. We’re committed to helping everyone, everywhere turn intention into reality, through tools, research, and ideas on how to make an impact.

When it comes to injustice and inequality, kindness dissolves indifference and apathy.

What are some things you can do to use kindness to unify your community?

  • Learn the story of someone different than you

Every one of us has a completely unique life. If there is someone you know of but don't really know, take time to ask them about who they are and where they're from. Have no agenda other than listening.

  • Write to your elected representatives

They work for you. Tell them what to do. Encourage local, state, and federal officials to choose kindness for all people. You can contact them here: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials/

  • Thank a service worker

Service workers make the flurry of activity at transit hubs, restaurants, and shops possible. Take time to thank them for their hard work.

  • Compliment a stranger

Let a stranger know you noticed their lovely smile, style, or dedication to their work. You'll feel just as good as they do!

  • Donate food to a shelter for the holidays

Sharing food has always been a way to give comfort and show care. Help spread some holiday joy this year by donating some favorite items to your local shelters so that others can take part in a special holiday meal.
